Summer Fun

I haven't posted any pictures lately - watching Abram has been all consuming.  He is always on the move and he's just become interested in being read to, which is really fun for everyone.  So by the time he goes to bed we're all exhausted.  

Grandma Comstock came to visit a couple of weeks ago but I realize I didn't get any pictures.  Josh and I headed to K.C. for a wedding and Abram had his first overnight without us.  I think he dealt with it MUCH better than we did.  Thank you grandma for spoiling our little guy.

While grandma was here we went downtown.  We haven't been out much since because Abram's ride got a flat tire we need to get fixed.

He borrowed Rachel's sunglasses while we were out to dinner.  It's his favorite game to take other people's glasses.

So silly!

Abram also has a bad habit of putting his feet on the table. No matter whether we're out to dinner or he's in his highchair at home Abram likes to put his feet on the table.  We're going to have to instill better table manners.

Tonight when I picked Abram up from daycare he was so hot and sticky from playing so hard we decided a run through the sprinklers would be fun.  He was pretty hesitant at first...

 

but it didn't take long for him to realize how much fun he could have.

The water would have been too cold to fill up the pool so we just had the pool empty while the giraffe sprayed out water.

What fun!

Crazy Time with Aunt V

Josh was in Monterey, CA this past week for a conference so Aunt Vicki came to stay with Abram and I.  We had so much fun and we were sad to say goodbye.  We need to somehow move Omaha closer to Iowa City.

I have lots of pictures from this trip so get comfortable.

 It's amazing how he's grown since he first got the truck at Christmas.

We also managed to get him in the tub.  The kid can get dirty like it's nobody's business.

Aunt V is great at helping Abram work on new skills.  Here we are waiting for his 1 year doctor's appointment.

Kee Cat and Tito resting during one of Abram's naps.  He chases them around constantly.  They cannot be in the same room as he is without him yelling or grabbing at them.  It's exhausting being the favorite toy of a 1 year old.

Our final night we stuck to tradition and went to Pagliai's Pizza.  Abram had fun flirting with other customers and the waitress.

Sunshine and Sand

This past weekend I had a conference in Florida and we took the whole family.  My parents stayed at a hotel down the beach from us and Abram and Josh came along too.  We had a great time on the shore.   I was a little worried that Abram would be overwhelmed by the waves and the ocean.  Well I didn't need to worry.  This is the first picture of him sitting in waves.  He laughed and tried to chase them.  He had a great time.

He had our undivided attention as he showed off his sand throwing skills.

I thought this was an adorable picture.  It was great to have nana and grandpa there to help out.  While I was in sessions Josh was actually able to take some well deserved time off.   

Our last night there we went out to dinner.  You can tell Abram was a bit tired of fun family pictures by this time.

Now Josh is off to a conference for his work in Monterey, CA and Abram and I are back in Iowa City.  Aunt Vicki has come over to help.  We'll have lots of fun pictures to update next weekend.

1 Year Old Today!

Mr. Abram officially turned 1 today.  He celebrated this morning by eating pancakes with Papa and then this afternoon he dug into to some chocolate cake.  Sounds like a pretty good birthday to me.

I took these pictures this evening in the front yard and I think they show how big he's getting.

We put a very tired, but very happy baby to bed tonight.

Birthday Boy

We had a birthday party for Abram today in the park (his actual birthday is Monday).  The man of honor had a late nap and missed the first half of the party.  When he did arrive he was a little bit sleepy.  He soon woke up and got into the party.

 

Abram had a bear cake and a bear pinata, one of his nicknames is baby bear because he likes to growl so much.

 

Abram had a little bit of cake but didn't care for it too much. 

 

My dad always made pinatas for our birthdays growing up so I thought I would do the same thing.  Well I should have asked him for better directions.  Everything started off well until the kids pulled the ribbon and the bear went crashing to the ground.  Luckily it didn't hit anyone.   We rebounded and I just shook all of the prizes out - it seemed to be just as fun.

 

The day ended with a very happy and tired baby bear.  At the end of the party he blew his very first kiss to the departing guests.  It was the cutest thing ever!   Here he is showing off his new skills to grandma.

We want to thank everyone for the all of your help, support and love this past year.   It really does take a village - Abram (and his parents) are very lucky to have such wonderful support.

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day.  Nana Comstock was able to come over and we had lots of fun.  We went out to brunch and then came back and finished planting a small garden and got my flowers in the front yard.  Sunday morning Abram woke up about 6:30 and was playing in the living room with Josh and I when he decided all by himself that he wanted nana to get up so he went to her closed door and started pounding on it.  He was pretty surprised when she actually opened the door.  Normally when he pounds on doors nobody is behind them.

Abram enjoyed playing outside - he helped with planting.  He decided the cilantro was in the wrong place so he helped by yanking it out of its pot and placing in a better place.  He is such a good helper!

Abram had a cold earlier this week and has graciously passed it on to Josh and I.  Abram is feeling much better but unfortunately Josh is still under the weather.  Abram took full advantage of Josh's disabled state and pounced on him tonight.

Abram was the clear winner...

Abram has conquered and you can see he's scooted off to greener pastures (AKA kitty cats), you can barely make out his pant leg in the bottom of the picture.  I hope to be posting pictures later this week of a before and after shots of Abram and Josh after their haircuts.  Wish us luck.

Under the Weather

We've started out this week with a sick little boy.  While Abram isn't feeling well - I think it may be worse for mama and papa.

 

Even feeling as sick as he does he still finds time to play - the kid has his priorities straight.

 

He got this truck for Christmas but is just now getting big enough to actually play with it.  The first thing he learned to do is honk the horn.

 

I am one sick little boy :(
