Abram is not a huge fan of organized activities. He is very competitive at stair climbing, swinging, and being the first one home from an evening walk but he's not to excited to 'follow orders.'
He said he wanted to try baseball - which he loves to play in the backyard - so we gave it a shot.
After much consideration he decided he would go out on the field but it took a little prodding.
Once he got out their he had fun.
In this t-ball league they play 'games' but there are no 'outs' or keeping score, after a child hits the ball the staff throw balls to each child in the outfield to throw in, and you always get to run all the bases.
In my head I realize this is probably the best way to keep the kids involved so they don't eat the dirt or get sad if they lost but as someone who has a serious competitive streak - it is hard to watch.
I thought this way for about 2 minutes until I hear another parent tell their kid, "No you can't have any water - do you see any other kids drinking water?" This is on a 80+ degree day in the direct sun. At that point I reminded myself that these are 3 and 4 year olds and I should sit back and embrace the fact that Abram skips between the bases - seriously, he refuses to run the bases - just skip. I find it adorable :)
My favorite day so far was picture day - Abram did a great job posing for the camera. I can close my eyes and see him in 20 years on a professional baseball card - unless there is some type of professional skipping league - then he would probably have his own skipping card.
I melt when he smiles.
