Summer 2012

So I am more than a little bit behind in posting pictures so I will try to catch up briefly.  We have some exciting news to share but you'll have to read on to find out what!!!!

Abram's Aunt Rachel made him this super awesome robe.  He decided to wear it on our regular evening walk.

It was really hot so the robe was relegated to the wagon with Stella.  I don't know how Abram has all this energy but it's great when he decides to pull Stella.

We've found that we really enjoy Warren Dunes State Park which is about 45 minutes from our house in South Bend.  Abram and Stella are really beach babies and it we try to make it once a week.

Stella's not much for going in the cool water but she is happy to play in the sand.

We made a trip down to Indianapolis for Abram's 2 year check-up from his cleft palate surgery.  I can't believe 2 years ago he was on liquid diet after his surgery.  You would never know from talking to Abram or even looking in his mouth that he ever had a cleft.  The doctors in Indianapolis were very impressed with the job that Dr. Canady and the team at the University of Iowa did.  I will always be grateful that we had such a wonderful surgeon right in Iowa City and my heart goes out to families who go through multiple surgeries or live hours away from the nearest children's hospital.

We tried to have some fun on the trip and made it to the Indianapolis Zoo - even in the heat.  Abram and Stella both tried to climb in with the sharks.

We saw the cutest baby elephant and her mama.  The elephants are not the only ones with exciting news - we are expecting baby number 3 in early January!!!!!!  Abram is very excited for this new addition - I'm sure Stella is too if she could talk.

We made it to the last dolphin show of the day.  Abram and Stella thought it was great.  Stella actually had to leave before the show was over because she wanted to jump in the pool and we wouldn't let her :(

We came back to Iowa for Rachel and Caity's wedding in Ames.  We were able to catch up with lots of friends who have moved on from Iowa City.  Stella and Liz  planned their matching outfits.

Stella was all ready for a wedding in a flower garden - she wanted to match.

Family fun!

Reiman Gardens was beautiful - but the surroundings could not compare the beautiful ceremony that Rachel and Caity had. We were so happy we could be part of this special day.

Stella even stayed up for the reception.

Abram was not short on people to hug and cuddle with.

My sweetheart!

Stella and Liz at brunch.

We celebrated 4th of July in Omaha.  Stella was caught before she could cover the floor in strawberries.

She had on her patriotic outfit.

Josh took off for South  Bend in early July and Abram, Stella and I will stay on in Omaha until Josh's brothers wedding in early August.

While Josh is gone we're trying to keep busy.  Aunt Vicki took Abram and I to Fontenelle Forest which had a dinosaur exhibit going on.  Here they are checking out the stream.

This picture reminds me so much of Josh.

Digging for dinosaur bones.

 This is pretty cool!

Abram would only use the dino puppets with teeth - leaving Vicki and I the toothless variety.

They also had the coolest costumes to try on.

Abram had a great time.

We were lucky to have a visit from Erin, Donovan and Drew Hill - who are also expecting a baby this fall.  While they were here we headed to the zoo on a cool 99 degree day.

You can't tell in this picture but the Hill family just climbed a giant hill in the zoo.

Sara really got into the dino dig at the zoo.

Abram's favorite part was a ride on a dragon on the carousel.

Abram blended right into the this family picture.

Stella really enjoyed the aquarium.

Before heading home we went to a nearby lake and the boys had a ton of fun just being boys, splashing, throwing rocks, playing with sticks, talking about poo, etc.

Here's a picture of Stella and Drew.

Josh came back for a quick visit because we missed him so much.  He took this picture of Abram and I at the zoo.

We also made it to a nearby park before it got too hot one day.

Josh had more fun climbing than the kids.

These next few pictures are just from today.  I love this picture of Stel.

Hard to tell in this picture  but the kids are playing with Aunt Vicki with pink sand on her deck - I had never seen pink sand before.

Abram and V cloud gazing.

Stella can't stand it if anyone is relaxing and came over to rough up the loungers.
.

We've had a busy summer so far and have lots more planned!
